That is one of the terrible things about their hatred of the Bushs. A lot of it is based on die- hard WASP haters who mistakenly think that the Bushs are Old Money (they are upper middle class, but were not a wealthy family), and that that means that they are anti- democratic and just out for themselves and their friends. Whereas Gore grew up closer to the image of a spoiled rich kid, living in a residential hotel near the National Cathedral and attending St. Alban's, the snootiest private school in Washington, and summering on his dad's "gentleman's farm" in Tennessee. Similarly, Kerrey is much more of a Fauntleroy than W, attending the snootiest boarding school in New England (St. Paul's), while W spent his formative years in public school in Texas, and only went to boarding school for high school.
