Don't forget that Moore also made a "documentary", Bowling for Columbine where he implies that Americans are all beer swilling gun loving nutcases. This is the image he wishes to export of the US, and his latest film is along these same old lines. Don't be mislead, he has no "nuance" in mind when he says Americans are the stupidest people on the planet, he really believes this, and wants to give those who agree with him the comfortable feeling that they somehow belong to some elite minority who are above the average dreck that inhabits the country. It's the same psychology at play as behind belief in conspiracy theories - being "in on" secret knowledge that the masses aren't privy to.
