I'm not going to ask for examples, but I don't recall ever reading anything as foul and repulsive as what MM said on SI.

Liberals are called worse things day in and day out in the conservative stuff you read here regularly.

But my guess is, to repeat what I said to Mike, is that it's an ironic comment. It's a comment that says that Americans are better than that.

Wish that were true, John. Unfortunately I've read similar statements from Moore's political neck of the woods quite frequently. Especially amongst left leaning under-30s, who are IMO Moore's target audience.
