Z,

While I'd agree that when a doctor does his job, but the surgery fails by chance, that that doctor should not be punished. But, if the surgery fails because the doctor is negligent or incompetent, then the doctor should be punished. A good jury and judge can see the difference, hopefully.

Don't you think that a better form of punishment would be an independent commission of doctor fees determining negligence and punishment be in a form of suspending the license to continue practice medicine?

The sleezeball trial lawyer system just punishes the patients by increasing costs of all doctors, which are passed on to patients. It seems like the worst system I can think of.

But the Democrats benefit from this mob-like system, so expect no changes.

Remember, insurance companies have high-paid lawyers, as well.

And who exactly is paying the bill? You are, I am, every potential patient is.

Consider another profesion - obstetricians. The trial lawyers are driving them out of business, one by one. There are areas of the country that have no doctors left, woman giving birth needs to go 10s or 100s of miles.

The age long craft of midwife / obstetrician is under assault by sleazeballs like Edwards. The act of childbirth has had its risks as long as humans existed. The risks are still there. But now, everytime the unlucky card is drawn, ambulance chasers like Edwards are there to exploit it for personal gain to themselves, to the detrement of the pregnant mother, newborn, father.

A friend of mine who gave birth recently. She obstetrician/midwife center she started using during pregnancy was forced to close doors before she gave birth, driven out of business by insane insurance premiums - all caused by Edwards' sleazeball industry.
