If it involves forcing others to bend to your will to the point that violence is justified then it is wrong. I gather you are pro-choice.

Anti-modern is not a problem. Coercive application of philosophy is a problem. I think each is a problem. I agree with you about the coercion. I think you discount the problem of anti-modernity. The world is moving quickly and we have to be able to keep up or we will lose the good life we get from our advancement. That's hard to do with a dead weight pulling you backwards. I think you also are expanding his target for him thus broadening the perceived insult without warrant. This is what he said: "The true battle will be between modern civilization and anti-modernists... between those who believe in science, reason, and logic and those who believe that truth is revealed through Scripture and religious dogma." He's not dissing religion or people who believe in God. He's talking specifically of absolutist, fundamentalist, dogmatic religionists. Buddhism is not like that. Neither is most of Christianity. He's talking about Creationists and the like. That's anti-modern. "Amazing Grace" and "love thy neighbor" are not anti-modern. There are two problems with such religions. One is that they tend to be intolerant and potentially coercive because they have the only truth. The second is that they're anti-modern in that they restrain intellectual and scientific advancement. That's not a knock on either religion or belief, only a subset of it, the dead weight.
