Jewel, "Why were they having sex when they were sick?"
Define sick, please. Are you saying that people who have had heart valve replacements or other heart surgeries or who have had childhood diseases such as rheumatic fever should not have sex? Antibiotics are routinely prescribed for these people, in anticipation of minimally invasive procedures, such as dental work--including teeth cleaning.

Why didn't one or both of them get snipped? Although highly effective, tubal ligation and vasectomy are not foolproof; pregnancies have been known to occur. Additionally, both are surgical procedures and, as such, carry the attendant risks of surgery.

" . . . that is more important than the woman's well being or the baby's."
More often than not when the mother dies, the baby dies along with the mother.

Since twenty kinds of forever and far predating Roe v Wade, termination of pregnancy for purposes of preserving the woman's health or life has been a legal AND medically sound course of action. - Holly
