It was crazy to think that Saddam would invade Kuwait because it was so irrational. He imperiled Saudi Arabia by doing so, and we were fortunate that he stopped at Kuwait when he did as he could have delivered some serious damage to Saudi Arabia. If he had set the Saudi wells on fire like he did the Kuwaiti wells, we'd be in a different world.

There was nothing to stop him from going into Saudi Arabia. You think that risk was worth luring Saddam into Kuwait? If you do, I'm glad to know you aren't involved in the foreign policy arena.

The risk that Saddam created for SA by being in Kuwait at a time when SA was essentially defenseless is is the risk to the West that makes your conclusion illusory.

Like I said, feel free to construct your alternative reality.
