Africa is a mess, that's for sure. The civilizations there have had thousands of years to be constructive and thriving societies. But instead, nothing. Except barbarism. The US has given millions of dollars in aid. Would be interesting to know what other countries have given as well.

Egypt could certainly do something useful there, but certainly don't notice they have. Nor has Europe, and Africa is certainly closer to Europe than the US.

It is amazing that the US just had it's 228th birthday. Many civilizations in Africa have been there for over 4,000 years.
