Yes, I was one of the very first Kerry supporters and volunteered to help with six fundraisers. Not that I raised much, but I did get the rare chance to spend a nice amount of time with him one on one and find out what he was really all about. Even have a nice photo of myself with JK. During our talks I pressured him to be stronger about reminding people he was right about Iraq from the start (he was, but Dean was calling him Bush lite and his response at first sounded unclear) and to never give up no matter how bleak things ever got. I also spoke with his aides to make sure he didn't have any skeletons in his closet (he doesn't) and I made sure he had the powerful personal drive to make it all the way (he does, in spades). A few things thing you need know about John. He is totally unafraid. He knows Bush and knows he's the better man. He knows he's ready to lead ALL Americans. He knows how to deal with the special interests and isn't beholden to any of them. He loves his wife and she and his kids all adore him. He has no bad habits. He has no big ego. Just very self-assured. He is incredibly brilliant and has a near photographic memory. He is warm and people-friendly (picked something up from Clinton there). He loves sports and rugged adventure. He sincerely loves the military, just not some of the people in charge of the military. Also, he is very honest. Almost too honest sometimes.
