I'm starting to enjoy this energy discourse!!

I have a house in the San Juan Island's of Washington state that runs almost entirely off of solar. All my electricity is generated by solar and about 95% of my hot water comes from solar..

Just to get you folks thinking a little bit... on a clear day near noontime there is almost 1 Kilowatt of energy striking the earth for every square meter!!

Anyway I've been working with this stuff for about 10 years now and it's sad that we don't pursue it further...

We could probably displace 50% of our oil imports in the next 20 years if we really got going on development of this stuff. Not to mention selling the world products our engineers developed.... Solar cell technology is going gang busters and wind generation is really taking off.. In Holland they are almost net exporters of electricity via wind power! Pretty impressive....

When I look at all the tax credits the oil business has gotten over the years and think of the possibilities to become independent it just makes me want to scream.
