Yes, but why today?

All these things you mention have been true for several weeks now. But maybe a decline that isn't triggered by some specific event is more telling?

Looks like I might have out-guessed myself. I thought the home builders were too obvious as housing crash bets - so I am playing mortgage lenders, mortgage insurers and the GSEs. Should have kept it simple and just stuck with home builders.
