Hewitt thinks it is the "Michael Moore" effect. I think it is the lack of bad news out of Iraq. Probably both.

Kerry's Dead-Cat Bounce: The AP-Ipsos poll --conducted over three days beginning Monday, and including the day of the announcement of John Edwards as the running mate and the first full day of Kerry-Edwards campaigning-- shows President Bush opening a lead over John Kerry that is outside the margin of error: Bush 49%, Kerry 45%, Nader 3%. This poll is the second in three days to show Bush's approval rating returning to 50% or higher, and the AP story has this great quote from Glenn Foldessy, 45, of Streetsboro, Ohio, which is near Cleveland: "I want Bush in there, because the other guy is like sending a boy to do a man's job. We have somebody now who's established and has things on track and if we destabilize this government during the war on terror, that's playing right into the hands of the terrorits."

I guess Michael Moore is having an effect on the electorate --they don't like him or the Democratic Party that has embraced him.
