Dear M: If more of this country had your attitude we would ALL be in a rising boat. Sadly, their are plenty of "losers" around that feel the only way they can have that color t/v and sports car is if YOU pay for it. If they put the energy into working they put into FINDING WAYS TO SPONGE OFF SOCIETY they too could be successful. In America NO ONE has an excuse to be poor anymore.
My son who is 27 has a friend who is 27 also. His friend DESPISES his parents cause they pull EVERY TRICK in the book to hit up on welfare, refusing to work. This young man is going to college locally, paying all his OWN BILLS and working a full time job, letting his bum parents live with him. I admire the young man immensely and am sure he will do well eventually, but its tough for him. jdn

re:"I have no desire to be anything but the very best that I can be. Not off of the hard work of another or through some kind of fairy tale entitlement will I take from someone when I can care for myself.........it is against everything I believe."

Oh but if that were what the shakers and the movers also believe.....they work very hard to stack the deck in their favor. Is that what you mean when you say "I can take care of myself"....I tend to doubt it.

But you wouldn't mind extra tax breaks or loopholes that would put you a leg up on less fortunates....you don't mind that those with incomes much higher than yours get disproportionatley larger pieces of the pie. You continue to think that you're they're equal and your getting the same treatment. You don't mind kicking those below you down a little further as long as someone allows you to think you belong with the upper group...

BTW, you never did define "who is well off".....
