Dueling public interest groups?

Opensecrets says total Enron since 87 donated 1.9, the other "unnamed" one says 2.4 in 2000 alone? That's pretty funny.

A judge set unusual bail conditions Thursday for a Baytown accountant accused of picking up homeless teenage boys and paying them to perform sadistic sex acts.

James Michael Broomas, 50, was ordered not to go within 200 yards of the intersection of Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer, where police say he trolled for runaway boys.

State District Judge Carol Davies also told Broomas -- who police said is known on the street as "Spanky" -- he cannot possess pornography or have contact with anyone younger than 18.

Broomas made his first court appearance Thursday. He was arrested Tuesday on a charge of indecency with a child after allegations that he had sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy in 1999.

Broomas was released Wednesday on $10,000 bail.

From an apartment Broomas rented in the Montrose area, police said, they seized hundreds of videotapes, most containing images of homosexual bondage, along with paddles, pliers, rope and a video camera. Youths on the street referred to the apartment as "the Freak Shack."

Police said more charges may be filed against Broomas and that he told them he has been having sex with runaway boys for about 20 years. He is due back in court Aug. 11
