Yes, mining development is a tough business, delays seem to be commonplace with most of these names. Thus, these stocks seem to get regularly marked down to nominal valuations, which is then punctuated by occasional dramatic rallies (spring-summer, 2002, and summer-fall, 2003), only to be repeated. I guess the question I'd have to ask is, where will the new mines and production come from? I think the majors need to do this, or new company combinations.
