Well, I certainly can't, but many people do. Guess that's why some real-estate-related stocks have sold off a bit recently, and why the portfolio at the top of this thread is way down from its high point.

Again, stocks and real estate don't move in tandem. That's why I could never make a stock market buy/sell decision based on real estate market conditions. They're two different things. Stock traders look at charts and decide when to buy and sell. Ordinary people look at their family/household needs and decide when to buy or sell houses.

In my part of the country, this boom started in the mid 1990's when rates were much higher, and I'm pretty sure it was a demographic/population thing that got it rolling after a short (very short) downturn in real estate.
