But in the end, it's still a system, and the system can be worked and manipulated by the unscrupulous. True but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I think a lot of what needs to be done to fairly deal with the distinction between raising serious doubts as to the witnesses credibility and just "throwing mud", has to be done by judges exercising good judgement. You can and probably should have some overall rules and some more general guidlines but having good judges is the only way to really get it right. Tim
