Alan - there were "ages" or dispensations as some men say in the OT under the Old Covenants given to men as prefigures and shadows to Christ and His redemptive work. Those ages are in fact one progressive age prior to Christ now to Paul as the "Old Covenant" It was "growing old" during the 40 year period between the cross and the end of the age in 70 AD. Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is READY to vanish away. Those old covenants and ages were finishing - those "elements" would melt with a fervent fire at the return of the High Priest (Jesus) from the true Holy of Holies in Heaven at the Right Hand of the Father. The AGE TO COME was the New Covenant age in which we live. There are no more ages to come ro dispensations to be handed out. Christ is our High Priest Forever in the Covenant of His Blood after the Order of Melchesidek. I am not making this stuff up to escape your doctrines of Universal Redemption of to save face in my Preterist Views. These things are what the scriptures teach. There is not another 5 ages as you people falsely conjure up. Hebrews 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. The Old Covenant was READY (mello) to pass away BECAUSE God had granted the NEW COVERNANT promised throughout all the previous ages EONS - You expect promises invented by men. That is to deny the FULFILLMENT of all that God promised Abraham in Christ. When men leave here it is the lake of fire or heaven forever.
