Yes - You do know for a fact that I am not sold out to KJV

It is unfortunate that you do not realize I sold out to no group of men
nor any church nor any denomination - in fact I would last
all of 5 minutes in most churches - you know that much.

It was a clever response to point out the verse in Jonah
but I think the context and the words being spoken in reference
to the temple etc. prove that Jonah is at that point speaking
about much more than being in the belly og a whale.

Jesus used this same physical experience of Jonah to say the
same thing of His own death - that he would be in the "belly of the earth"
Alan - I am not dodging when I say it is apparent to me that Jonah
is talking about his corruption beyond the physical.

He is speaking about being rescued from spiritual death
not just the death of his flesh in a whale.

4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look
again toward thy holy temple.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the
depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about
my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth
with her bars was about me for ever:
yet hast thou
brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD:
and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of
thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed.
Salvation is of the LORD.

The salvation that Jonah is speaking of is not just from a fish.

I ask again - is there any word that actually means
forever to you in the bible Alan?

Call this post a dodge - I see you point to one scripture
and insist the word means less than forever by making it refer
exclusively to the temporal condition of being in the belly
of the whale.

I in fact see the words "the earth" (not specifically a fish)
"with her bars" (a vision of a prison not a fish)
"my life from corruption" (something beyond that moment and much larger)

Jonah being rescued from the fish was much more than just a
carnal experience even as the death of Christ and that
resurrection was much more than just a conquering of the physical.

I believe Christ was talking to an audience that saw the
experience of what happened to Jonah in much more than
just physical terms as would any preacher today - why then
would you make it speak specifically to the physical?
Would there be any motive in such an effort on your part :-)

I know you and my enemies here well enough to know that
I will be accused of dodging the truth all based upon this particular verse

Alan - tell me the meaning of eon in this verse:

Hebrews 7:17 For he testifieth,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

When does Christ stop being a priest in your system?

Just curious.
