Just like in Russia.

So much socio-politico-economic chaos followed the collapse of the Soviet Union that not a few Russians are still yearning to return to the "glory" of their former times when the Soviet Union was a desirable (on hindsight) countervailing force against the hegemony of the US worldwide. For them, the devil they knew is better than the devil they don't know. (With the countervailing force gone, the Bushies now dictatorially proclaim, "Either you are with us OR against us: there are no two ways about it........")

Just as to Russia where a lot of US money has gone to help stabilize matters (and to line the pockets of its leaders), so too a lot of US money will go to Iraq.

Result: the US ever incurs a heavier debt burden at the expense of US citizens and others by printing more and more cash that's not backed by gold.
(Hopefully, the US will recover some money from Iraqi oil in the long run. But will it?)
