.......... I agree. It's turning out that he was a lot more intelligent than people gave him credit for between 1976 and 1988--when he was really on the political stage.

The point is, though, that when he was elected in 1980 he was widely regarded as an intellectual lightweight. That was when the American public sanctioned the concept of electing antiintellectuals to the highest office in the land. The fact that he had more intellectual timber than met the eye was a blessing.

Dubya has NO intellectual timber--and when he leaves office there won't be serious revisionist analysis of that. The guy has the intellectual curiosity of a small rodent. It is my understanding that despite having unlimited free time prior to being "elected" in 2000 the stiff had never even set foot in Europe.
