Interesting article. Some valuable insights although he reaches at times in order to be cute.

People can argue till the cows come home as to how many people were murdered during those centuries of insanity. They may argue numbers, and methods, and all sorts of details.

People may argue the pragmatic justifications (as Spengler does), or they may argue that it is all a part of God's plan. But when I hear anyone state that the murderers were torturing for confessions because they TRULY wanted absolution for these poor misguided creatures, then I cringe and I hate. These bastards murdered strictly out of self interest. They did it for the money or they did it for the psychotic pleasure. "I am cutting off your tongue and then burning you alive because I love you Honey. I am doing it so that you may be absolved of your sins and walk with Christ." Yeah, yeah...way sweet.

It is one thing to kill in war. It is one thing to honestly know an enemy as the enemy knows you as an enemy...and to act in self interest of survival. But to TORTURE someone who cannot respond or fight back? This is cowardice of the highest order. And this is the worst indictment of the Inquisition. It was not about men fighting one another as men over differences. it was about serial killers being supported by the Church/State. It was about legalizing the most psychotic members of humanity--giving them a name tag, a key, and the power and authority to brutalize and murder at will.

So the Church may hire a million "scholars" to revision the facts...but rational people will never be fooled as to what happened: Innocent people were taken to market like cattle to be butchered. But unlike cattle, they were not butchered quickly. Rather...they were mutilated and tortured in ways that almost go beyond imagination.

We will not be fooled into forgetting by glib and specious revisionism. The Inquisition was not a war between men. It was the loosing and support of serial killers against random and innocent victims. There is nothing in history to match it. There is nothing in the imagination to supplant it. Humanity can go no lower. Perhaps the German medical experiments came close. But after all...they were done by doctors--sigh...

"WITCH HUNT"

The night is black
Without a moon
The air is thick, and still

The vigilantes gather on
The lonely torchlit hill

Features distorted in the flickering light
The faces are twisted and grotesque
Silent and stern in the sweltering night
The mob moves like demons possessed
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right ---
Confident their ways are best

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will

Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat, and burn, and kill

They say there are strangers, who threaten us
In our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness, too dangerous
In our theatres and bookstore shelves
That those who know what's best for us ---
Must rise and save us from ourselves

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand

Ignorance and prejudice
And fear
Walk hand in hand

The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown’s best selling novel, purports to be more than fiction: it claims to be based on fact and scholarly research. Brown wants his readers to believe that he is revealing the long-concealed truth about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and early Christianity, a truth that he says has been suppressed by the malevolent and conspiratorial forces of the Catholic Church. The novel alleges that there has been throughout history a secret group of true followers of a Gnostic Jesus and his wife, Mary Magdalene, the true "Holy Grail". Almost everything most Christians and non-Christians think they know about Jesus, according to Dan Brown, is completely wrong, the result of Catholic propaganda designed to hide the truth from the world.

But are The Da Vinci Code’s claims fact or just plain fiction? Is the novel well-researched as claimed? What is the truth about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the early Church? Has the Catholic Church distorted the real Jesus? Why is the novel so popular? What about the anti-Catholic, anti-Christian agenda behind the novel?

Best selling author Carl Olson and journalist Sandra Miesel answer these and other important questions. Their painstaking research into The Da Vinci Code and its sources reveals some surprising truths. No one who has read or heard about The Da Vinci Code should miss this provocative and illuminating new book.
