Here is another interesting footnote:

After the final collapse of Bre-X found buried on a back page of the Globe and Mail's Financial section was a small note saying Openhimer Brokerage of New York had made over US$100 Million shorting Bre-X. I believe it was on the strength of Jim Bob's (Freeport MacMoran) statements.

It must have been done between $3 and $4 Canadian, as that's where the heavy volume was. IMHO it was a visionary move by the Brokerage house Owners!
