geothermal sounds extremely promising
when I visited Crater Lake when camping in Oregon, I got a nice exposure to large geothermal potentials
unsure if any of that project made it past planning
they wanted to supply a big pctage of SanFran power

unsure here if you refer to household scale on geo
if so, then still great promise
the ambient temp down under is 55 degrees
the differential can power generators in midsummer and midwinter
in summer, use higher temp above ground
in winter, use higher temp below ground

the trouble I see is no national initiative
that will change when Saudi Arabia sees its inevitable coup

this country still offers the best govt money can buy
right now the entire military has embarked on oil corporation field support
if instead, $100 billion were devoted to fuel cell research or geothermal, then in 5-10 years, we could actually relieve 50% of our foreign energy dependence

as it stands, I see NO POSSIBILITY of moving away from oil dependence
our needs next month and next quarter dictate our every move

I like coastal sun-powered ocean water separators to extract hydrogen
Calif, Mexico, Texas, Florida, Georgia, SCarolina
fuel cells and electric cars (hybrids next) are the path

wind & sun power and geothermal are drops in the bucket
I could be wrong about household geo
watch fuel cell cars blossom
and Japan will take 95% market share

as #17 in education among the top 17 industrialized nations, the USA has no chance in leading anything
as our govt is commandeered by major corporate interests, the USA has no chance in leading anything off the beaten paths

my two cents
