President Calls Afghan Militias a Major Danger

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 11 — President Hamid Karzai said Sunday that Afghanistan's private militias had become the country's greatest danger — greater than the Taliban insurgency — and that new action was required to disarm them.

Notice how the NY Times carefully sanitizes the story to make Israel look better:

Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades, a faction linked to the Fatah movement of Yasir Arafat, claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying it was revenge for recent Israeli raids in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

In those Israeli raids, a pregnant woman was shot, and a teenage girl and 4 others were killed, but we needn't bother Americans with such pesky details.

Early Monday, Israeli armored vehicles pushed into the Gaza Strip to demolish what the army called militant gun posts, Reuters reported. Palestinian medics said a man was killed when his house was knocked down in the raid, near Khan Yunis.

Again, a detail is intentionally omitted: The victim was a 70-year old handicapped man.

Also, when the Palestinian is killed, it reported as "Palestinian medics said...". When the Israeli is killed, it is not reported as "Israeli medic said...". In that case, it is just reported as fact.

>It seems the wall idea ain't working; I guess it may be time to try nukes.

The wall is only like a quarter finished, and that was the first attack in like four months.

Argue with what you will about Israeli policy (and there's plenty to argue about), but the efficacy of the terrorism crackdown of the last couple of years is indisputable.
