Of course, there are fanatics on both sides who take extreme positions. But if you go back to the time of Yitzhak Rabin you will see that peace was a distinct possibility. You may not agree exactly with what he wanted to do but there would have been peace. And instead of being a dog in the region Israel would have been the king. With peace, Israelis could have made friends with all Muslim neighbors and done good business etc. Israel would have flourished. Now look at what has been achieved. It's simply common sense to know that one has to give in order to get. One cannot have everything.
