Hi Amy,

Merrill Lynch joins the downgrade party on Intel.

States fear of margins not being as strong as company predicts.

So far Intel's massive lead in 300MM has given them yields and efficiencies that have improved margins. One would've thought other chip makers would've prewarned if the market place was creating discounting.

I still say -They'll surprise to the upside.Barrett's comments mid quarter and the revenue guidance being adjusted up JUST DON"T happen that freely.

Me thinks I smell Wall Street obfuscation- on an organized level.

Bob

Amy, RE: Personally, am finding it hard to believe we'll have bad news with Hardware, namely because when you look at how long the recovery has been in capex, by my guestimation that's not long enough of a recovery for the completion of an upgrade cycle

The flip side of this is that the decline after the Bubble was really rather muted.

That said, the weakness in software/services was pretty much across the board last week. I think that SAP might have been the only company on my screen to report a good quarter. I can't spot any general reasons why.
