Andrew is right. The two candidates represent the extreme base position of their parties. Now that the dems have chosen theirs the republicans can make the switch getting a centrist to actually balance their ticket to their advantage imo. I dont think condi rice would fly because of the iraq flak and no real compelling political history before this job. But Powell, Giuliani and McCain have the above qualitifications. But i am dreaming here. With the nutty right placing their hopes in a const ban on gay marriage and opposing stem cell research, which one of those three could actually run and maintain their intellectual honesty. This is all very sad for me, but i for one will start practicing saying President Kerry. mike
