I find the assertion that we should have bombed Ansar al-Islam terrorist training camps to be incredibly naive, given the history of what happened when we bombed terrorist training camps in Afghanistan.

Expensive bombs kill civilians and camels, and the terrorists get away.

There are better ways of catching terrorists. And they're more useful as captives than pieces of meat, because pieces of meat can't rat out their colleagues.
