If The Bush Administration Lied About WMD, So Did These People..

The latest, greatest evolution of the "deny any mistake and if that doesn't fly then make excuses" crowd is that "everybody else was wrong about Iraq too." But there's a BIG difference between what this administration did and what "everybody else" did. That is, quite simply, "everbody else" didn't have a finger on the trigger and "everybody else" didn't send a bullet flying.

There's a huge responsibility that comes with initiating a war. It's a terrible and horrible action that will leave torn bodies, ruined lives and shattered men and women in its wake and one that sets a dangerous precedent in international relationships; especially when the nation that launches the war is the most powerful nation in the world.

What this administration DID, with it's finger on the trigger, was to decide that the pro-war evidence was sufficient to justify the inevitable loss of lives and resources before it had even given the U.N. inspectors time to get their inspections well underway, before it had weighed the FACT that the few U.N. inspections which had been done had disproved much of its pro-war "intelligence," and before it had secured the essential cooperation and agreement of even a substantial MINORITY of the civilized nations of the world.

So, clearly, when you are the one with your finger on the trigger and you know that if you squeeze it life will be lost, you have a huge responsibility to try everything else first so that you can be SURE you're right. This is especially true when the cost of waiting is not measured in lives lost.

No one else had that responsibility. No one else pulled that trigger. And no one else can be held responsible for not taking the time and making sure that the horrible costs of war were justified. The Bush administration must take responsibility for its eagerness for war when a little time would have shown that the reasons for the war were false.

No matter how hard you try to "share the blame," the buck stops with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, and Powell, along with all of their fellow Bush Administration officials.

I'd say off with all their heads :-) Ok, let's just throw them all out. As far as I am concerned, most politicians were a bunch of cowards after 9/11 who rather than serving the country and protecting our rights found it easier to jump on the hysteria bandwagon and engaged in a one-upmanship game of "I am more anti-terrorist than you".

It was obvious, to those who wanted to see it, that Dems did not really believe in much of what they were saying but felt it would be best to give Neocons enough rope to hang themselves. They knew they'll have their chance to roast Bush before the elections. Just the same, I don't find their actions in the best interests of the country. As for the Reps, well some of them believed in what they were doing, but most were just towing the party line. And the Neocons of course viewed 9/11 as a Godsend to implement their PNAC agenda.

So all in all, they all sucked and I'll be happy to see them all pay.

<If The Bush Administration Lied About WMD, So Did These People -- Version 3.0> There is no end to the attempts to make somebody else responsible for what has become the largest foreign policy disaster in a generation. Bush et al chose war -- others wanted to re-establish the intelligence provided by having UN inspectors on the ground. The rush to war, and the disaster that has been unfolding since Bush declared its "end" are something for which Bush should take full responsibility.
