I don't think there will be any "Profiles In Courage," volume two, books written about this generation for this episode in American politics.

Large agree with that, but a few stood up--Robert Byrd, for one. His amendment, if passed, would have stopped the war, though not the buildup. He also was one of the few who publicly and repeatedly said that the buildup and the fear mongering was about domestic politics more than anything else.

If they voted to back up the president, I don't care why they did it. The legislative branch is supposed to protect us from the excesses of the executive- where they do not do that, for whatever reason, they are worthless and ineffectual. You are right- no profile in courage for that.

Oh come on - Clinton came to the same conclusion as Bush, he's said so recently. And almost every Democrat Senator and Congresscritter did, too, they voted for the war.
