I have nothing to fear from observers of any country. They'll have no power. All they will do is observe and report. A free nation should never fear that. In fact it will be instructive to the observers in many cases, and will help to strengthen and spread democracy.

Our likely mistake was to not have US federal officials monitoring the Congressional elections in their districts of those very democrats who are now asking for UN observers. They likely know something that we don't.
