Because the outlaw regime of Saddam Huessein, an avowed enemy of the U.S. in the heart of terrorist country, might help the terrorists by supplying them with deadly weapons. You know this JF. "Bush shows no intention of invading Saudi Arabia. Need I remind you that 17 of the 911 terrorists were Saudi's...." Bush's strategy is not to attack every country on earth that could be harmful to us. We are working with them to stop terrorists in their own country. If it does not work, and more attacks come from their country, I suppose an invasion is possible. But it is a stupid argument imo to say "why doesn't he attack NK, SA, Syria, etc, etc. If it is the best argument you have, or you feel we should attack SA, then make it your argument. But it is silly. Note that we did not attack Packistan or Libya, but I think we will be safer from both. "You never said why you think the terrorists attacked us" I think I just did above. They have declared war on us, and have attacked us or our interests at least 4 or 5 times. You can say that is not a reason, and maybe that brings you comfort in thinking you are "right". But that they did it on 9-11-01 so successfully should give you some pause. "what do they want, why did they declare war????" Ask them, go to their websights, read some books. There is a lot of information out there. "They're certainly not going to conquer us or wipe us out, by killing so few at a time..." I think 3,000 in one day is a lot. And if they did get WMDs (or do) it could be in the 10's or 100's of thousands a day. "and most importantly by leaving themselves vulnerable to our modern WMD.... I don't know what you mean. Explain if you would like.
