Never been bear hunting and I dont think I could ever kill a bear unless it was in self defense. They are such incredible creatures. Here is my funniest bear story.
Where I go offroading and camp is on a stream that I am told is THE BEST BAR CROSSING IN 20 MILES. Well, I had never seen a bear there until 2 years ago. We had a HUGE PICNIC cooking up over 70 pounds of pork in a big barbecue for ourselves and locals. It started raining bad, and no one showed up so we had ALL THIS PORK uneaten. Along comes two BAR HUNTEN DOGS, I gave them some meat and they immediately became my BEST PALS. (gg). Well, those two dogs stayed with me for TWO DAYS and I just kept feeding them. BARS (thats what they call em in the mountains) could smell the meat and they came into our camp IN WAVES after that meat. Each time those dogs would jump up and chase them off over the hill, then come back to me. Finally the OWNER of the dogs came MAD AS HELL roaring at me WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY BAR DOGS, THEIR SUPPOSED TO BE HUNTEN BAR. I told the owner, "you dont have to hunt BAR, sit here with me at the fire and the BAR will HUNT YOU!! jdn

Several years ago on a backpacking trip, I setup my 8oz hammock between two trees and eventually went to sleep in the hammock.

One of my buddies woke up in the middle of the night and found a bear walking right through our camp, and it even walked under the hammock and it started swinging...

In the morning there were bear tracks everywhere including one set that went right under the hammock....

another good reason for bear bagging.

I've got a W'04 bumper sticker on my car....
