Well, yes. That’s the point I was trying to make, in a roundabout way.

I’m not sure what purpose is served by overlooking the pattern of violence in recent Kurdish history, but the pattern of omission does seem too systematic to be accidental. The pattern also seems to run across ideological lines, which is a bit odd. I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but it will bear watching. It may simply be a subset of a wider tendency to underestimate the challenges that an emerging Iraqi government will face.
