Speaking of costly misadventures, I read somewhere that the cost of war is going to be over $500B. To put that in perspective, Iraq's total revenue before the war was around $6B (between 4 and 10 depending on estimates and including the smugling operations) and the combined military budget of UK, France, and Germany is about $50B (or so I have heard).

In other words with this amount of money you could have Iraqis working for 100 years or have the entire combined British, French, and German military (that is navy, army, air force, special forces, and military intelligence) in Iraq for 10 years.

So how many people think we are getting our money's worth? And I am not even including the human cost here.

dont expect Kerry to pull US troops out of Iraq doublequick

not gonna happen
we will not allow "all those soldiers to have died for nothing"
that is the new age mantra to continue mistakes

also, we will want to maintain our tight control of Iraqi oil
this war was about ...
- securing their oil, to get first in line, and to attempt to pay for the war, reconstruction, etc, none of which has happened or is likely to happen (clear, no doubt)

- stopping the sale of oil in euros, which threatened the world financial system backed by the petro dollar (totally misreported, misunderstood, minimized, and dismissed)

- finding a second source for military bases outside Saudi Arabia, where I was surprised to learn this week that we are still in Prince Sultan Airbase.... the only distinction is the USA is not permitted to embark on any bombing air raid sortie from Sultan Airbase

the $100 B so far would have been better spent on fuel cell research grants and developmental product subsidies
but the Bushy squad have no vested interest in the nextgen technology

so the USA will import our hybrid and electric fuelcell cars from Japan, who does not bother with misadventure to Arab oil lands (they only help to finance them, as buyers of last resort for USTBonds)

USA will be in Iraq for the next decade
but our presence will be straaaannnnge as hell
US Troops eventually will guard the Iraqi oilfields
while Iraqi troops will protect the population centers
then it will be clear what our motivations were
as we continue to be targets for insurgent attack against troops who have basically stolen a nation's oil reserves

we are smarter than this
we should invest in fuelcell R&D
we should invest in coastal solar-powered hydrogen separator plants to take ocean water and produce hydrogen, all along California, Mexico, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and SCarolina seacoast

instead of energy independence, we will get World War IV
what I call the "Islamic War for Oil"
over & out
