Ish, Ah, yes, smoking cessation programs. Many time-honored get-rich-quick schemes. Remember the Schick Centers and others of that elk?

If withdrawal gets too dicey, try putting a nicotine patch in your mouth, up against the roof (the hard palate). That worked really well for me, and the physicians I discussed it with had no problem with my doing so.

Just do it. And if you fall off the horse, OK, you fell off. As soon as you can, try again. Keep at it. Each time you try to quit, you discover the ways you trick yourself back into smoking. Eventually you run out of ways and you're free.

Sort of. Amazingly, the urge can strike at unexpected moments for years afterwards. But eventually that stops too.
