One may have to look at the series of events after the incident. E.g. the pumping up the war with Iraq. Who are the major beneficiaries? Would you include: 1. MIC, for example look at HAL Betchel KRB etc, 2. Oil companies (control of second largest oil fields in the world has been acquired) price of oil to the consumer etc. Note that production has not been reduced, actually If I am not mistaken it has increased.. 3. Removal of a "perceived" threat to our surrogate state Israel, along with new pipelines to Israel from Iraq. Old one was shut down by Saddam and it was 8", the new line is 42" Then one needs to look who's who in the gov't and who lobbies and influences decisions. One can call it hidden agenda, another can call it business as usual...
