"The department of trade and industry said that India and China featured among the top 10 inward investors in Britain during the year.

Chinese investors created 324 jobs with 23 investments during the same period.

The sector attracting the greatest number of investment projects to Britain was software - attracting 76 projects.

"Amid the concerns over call centre jobs going overseas to India and China, what should not go unnoticed is the employment opportunities created by companies coming into Britain from the US, from Europe and even from India," said Trade, Investment and Foreign Minister Mike O'Brien. "
