hey holly nothing is worse than some preachy reformed smoker up on his or her soapbox telling everybody that they should quit i know that to be true so i do not come from there i believe that i was blessed with a clarity of vision unlike i had ever had before i made a significant effort to time travel into the future and feel what it was going to feel like in that room with people all around who could leave when visitation hours were over and go back to their "ordinary" lives. and in that significant effort i saw a grief that is untellable. i could not accompany them outside back into ordinary life. i was in my death bed and i saw that i held the key and i alone could turn it. because in the future... in that hospital room.... i can only despair at having never turned it so now, like dylan says, i am hanging in the balance of the reality of man my desire to not be in that room in twenty years is far stronger than my desire to light a cigarette
