I think the GM is the key. I think the analysts may have expected the inventory part, but Intel is all about gross margins, and they took everybody by surprise.

Unless Intel can find some new high growth category with strong margins, I think the glory years are over. Microprocessors have had their growth run, and will be relegated to semi-commodity products (pun intended). Intel is still a good company, but you are not going to get B&H rich on the stock. (MHO)

Actually, I was trying to figure out if the semi cycle is over. For the past 6 months, the semis have been trashed. Now some but not all semis have warned that business is slowing. With INTC, that picture is less clear....inventory is growing.......is it because demand is slowing or bin splits have become more efficient?

In reality I have only two semis right now.....both of which are killing me and I am ready to sell them. However, I have made major bucks on natural gas this year. One of them is up 600% since I first bought it. I am trying to decide what to do with those profits.......put them into semis, something else or go into cash.
