Hi M. You can drive into the park & see a fair amount of
the Grand Canyon from your car. There is an admission fee
(currently $20 per passenger vehicle, with varying prices
for other vehicles).

Once in the park, you can drive around to most places, but
there are free buses to take you to the various overlooks
& no private vehicles are allowed in that part of the park
(no doubt to keep those overlooks from becoming a parking
nightmare). The buses run on a frequent schedule all day.
It's all very convenient & designed for folks to enjoy a
wonderful time seeing one of the most beautiful natural
wonders on the planet.

And no matter how many pictures & films of the Grand
Canyon you may see, it is best observed up close &
personal. Awesome natural beauty does not do justice to
describing the Grand Canyon & it just cannot be fully
captured on film IMO.

FWIW, if you do go, plan on staying overnight & spending
at least two days (perhaps more) to see & experience it
all at a leisurely pace. You won't be disappointed. There
are plenty of decent accomodations in the area. Oh, and
you will be in thin air, between 8 & 10 thousand feet
above sea level. You can tell how thin the atmosphere is
without even exerting yourself. Keep that in mind when
planning your time as there are lots of places that you
might want to walk to for the best views.

I wish that the sun had not been obscured by a thick band
of clouds for many of my pictures there that day. I only
had 200 speed film in my 35mm camera, so the color &
details were a bit washed out. Still, all in all, I was
quite happy with most of the pics.
