I think you have every right to take apart any text book you want, as long as you are looking at the text book- so you can truly judge. And you sound like you would be a really good judge. I don't know where you live, but most high schools invite people from the community to be on their committees to judge texts - it's just hard to get people to volunteer. I hope people here will be wary of taking the media's opinion on texts. Many people on SI don't trust the "liberal" media on their pet issues, and yet they trust them absolutely on other things, that fit in with their POVs. The "liberal" media makes a lot of mistakes, and it makes them right, left and center- and I hope we will all have skepticism when things are reported- whether we agree with those things, or whether we disagree with them.
