I have plans for breakfast later this morning at an IHOP in the burbs. I'm sure that if I were to see fellow diners sporting guns I would find that quite disconcerting.

I go to a local Starbucks nearly every morning. At 0830, you will see two men in civvies drinking coffee while openly carrying automatic pistols in belt holsters. They are county sheriffs, but it is not readily apparent.

Driving through S Dakota, Wyoming and Montana last fall, I saw many folks carrying rifles and pistols at breakfast in the motel, in gas stations and elsewhere. It was hunting season.

Someone who is carrying in full compliance with the law is very unlikely to do you harm. It is the weapons we don't see that should cause the most concern.

More and more Americans and, recently, ever larger numbers of women are becoming qualified pistol sharpshooters. They will be using concealed carry techniques. I tell friends to take a course just to learn how to recognize all the holsters. Just because a weapon is concealed doesn't mean it is invisible. Btw, I like Eagle's quick draw fanny packs and safepackers.
