Nokia says halted cellphone mkt shr losses in May
Thursday July 15, 8:11 am ET

HELSINKI, July 15 (Reuters) - Top handset maker Nokia (NOK1V.HE) said on Thursday that it had halted its loss of handset market share in mid-May.
"We started to see our mobile device market share stabilising during the quarter. While April and May were still relatively weak, mid-May marked a turn of momentum," Chief Executive Jorma Ollila told a conference call.

Nokia earlier stunned investors by saying earnings would remain under pressure for the rest of 2004 as it grapples with an uncompetitive handset portfolio and fierce rivals, sending its shares sharply lower.
