There comes a point where the nit picking and name calling become so discouraging that I have understood where someone like Lurger has left. Others have too. I think this particular site of Scott's is one we should all try to keep alive... Things are becoming ominous when people who wear T shirts against the reigning President are taken away in hand cuffs.

Agreed. As mentioned in the past, I put a number of the RWers on ignore a long while ago as I just can't be bothered reading their trash. I come here to read the news that's been rounded up by scott, WR, and a few others who have stuck it out despite the barrage of insults and bickering posts that come from the RWers who seem attracted to this thread like moths to a porch light. My only advice is to just put anyone whom you find annoying on ignore. It's a big world with plenty of information and opinions coming from every direction. There's no need to read the posts of a few annoying pests who just come "here" to blow off their big bazoos and act like they're wondrous oracles of wisdom. <g>

And yep.. it is becoming ominous when people get hauled off for wearing dissenting t-shirts, or for taking photos at the same location where dozens of others are shooting pictures, but being singled out, questioned and photographed because your skin is darker than everyone else so you fit some prescribed racial profile of what a terrorist with a camera looks like. People have to speak up now or else get used to living in a country that is becoming more like those "red" countries that the RWEs love to shriek so much about all of the time. Btw, there's some incredible irony to that, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Hi Suma,

Unfortunately, the very people who complain about being denied freedom of expression and whine about personal attacks are the same ones who have preached to have opposing ideas banned from this thread (if they come from right wingers), to have persons who challenge them ignored or removed from the thread, and who post vitriolic name calling and character assassinations on this thread in response to innocuous posts. Perhaps you have noticed, or not.

Do you have me on ignore yet?

btw, remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you that hillary would overtly support kerry's campaign but her behavior would undermine kerry's success? Did you see the fooforahh about the Dem National Convention? I must be a prophet...

Hi, Lady S. How are you today?

Don't worry; Lurq hasn't left; he is just on a sabbatical. When he starts posting again, his first few should be gems,as he spends a lot of time writing issue papers.
I think the news-op ed posts wax and wane; I've noticed some days there are not a lot of articles worth posting. For a long time., this has been one of my primary sources, so I'll keep posting what I come up with.
The mosquitoes wax and wane, too. Some weeks are worse than others. A lot of them appear to be nothing more than hired guns. Few of them have anything to post other than personal insults. There are enuf on the left to feed back in to it, too. There aren't a lot of positive things they have to say, so, attack the messengers. It holds for here, TV, radio, and everybody who has written a book about the administration. Moore is a good example; they can't find lies about his facts, so he becomes a fat rich dirty sloppy faux blue collar/union target.
One of the good things about the net is that it lets you know you are not alone, even tho they would like you to think so. If we let them arrest us, shut us up, and intimidate us, we may as well just sit here as Shrub cancels the election and proclaims his elf Emperor for Life. They are afraid of dissent. That's why most of their threads are moderated.
I haven't put anybody on ignore yet, but it is sure tempting.
