Lizzie, (humor) the ones that withered away, had welfare ceo's leveraged to the hilt.

On a serious note, the writing was on the wall for the Series C firms - the bulk of them were burning money at boom-rates only to find themselves hitting their heads on their own refresh line.

Series A & B faired much better, but there were a lot fewer of those.

The Valley hasn't been emptied out of startups because of China/India, it's because the Series C's from YR-2000 got washed out.

RE: "WS barking"

VC's can do this too, though admittedly VCs do indeed say WS is "even colder than us" - if you can imagine that.
