I will ask for a show of hands.

How many vote for invading Iran? Anyone?

How many vote for invading Syria? Anyone?

How many vote for invading North Korea? Anyone?

Anyone?...Anyone?....Bueller?

How about you ask the Afghans how their lives have improved since the Taliban?

Did you notice how our boy in Kabul said he was going to prosecute two journalists for suggesting separation of Church and State?

Now let's have a show of hands for this:

How many think we have more liberties now than we did before?

How many think we have reduced the number of potential future terrorists?

How many think the Iranian government is actually better behaving now than it was before the invasion (note: making an example of Saddam and getting Iran and Syria to take a hint was one of the pluses Neocons pushed before the war)?

How many think we are in better international standing now than we were before?

How many think we can actually lecture those brutal thugs in Syria, Iran, NK, China, etc on torture and human rights any more?

If the death toll in Iraq continues apace, or if the country slides in to civil war, I would vote for Saddam rather than those alternatives (which is why I was against the war to being with).

Would you prefer civil war to Saddam? What death toll would make you want Saddam back? Is there no death toll that would make you want him back? It's totally a calculus of risk and death, as far as I'm concerned.
