I was under the impression that Intel was moving in stages. That they did not attempt a 130->90 at the same time they did 200->300. Because of compounding the chance for error.

You are correct. Intel started 300mm production with the 130nm process. The results were excellent. Intel has ceased 130nm production on 300mm wafers and now all 300mm production is 90nm. No 90nm has ever been done on 200mm wafers.
