Not testing you, but curious ... you seemed to be saying it was the lens, which seemed dubious, but saying that the lens causes you to shoot at certain settings is quite sensible. And I certainly wasn't critiquing the depth of field ... I think it works well here, just like it does in that hummer picture I keep commenting on.
